“Although we only received initial data for the weekend, it is already clear that the Glastonbury Festival is having a huge impact,” said Martin Talbot, chief executive officer of the Official Charts Company. “How big will only become clear in the coming days, but the fact that Billie Eilish, Sam Fender and Wet Leg are emerging already raises the possibility of a record-breaking impact from the biggest music festival in the world.”

Another artist who benefited from his Glastonbury performance was Sam Fender, who performed on the festival’s Pyramid Stage last Friday night and placed his two albums Seventeen Going Under and Hypersonic Missiles in the TOP 40 of the British charts, at positions 14 and 38, respectively.

The Glastonbury Festival also featured other big names in world music, such as Paul McCartney, Diana Ross and Kendrick Lamar.

Remember the hit ‘Happier Than Ever’

The album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, being one of the best sellers of the year in pure copies, with 238 thousand in the first week. With that, Billie Eilish’s debut album climbed seven positions on the chart.

In addition to the record, one of the historic milestones that the singer managed to achieve with the new album is one of the best debuts of an album in vinyl sales, with 73,000 copies sold in the first week. ‘Happier Than Ever’ is second only to ‘evermore’, by Taylor Swift, with 102,000 copies.

‘Happier Than Ever’ even tied with Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘SOUR’ as the albums by female artists to reach the first position on the official charts in 2021, with 16 each.

However, adding 23 #1’s on the official charts, Billie Eilish surpassed Lady Gaga with ‘Chromatica’, becoming the artist to reach this position more times in the decade.

On the official UK chart, Billie was the first international artist to reach the top with her first two albums since Lana Del Rey.
