Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret: the new film with Rachel McAdams

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is the film that alternates drama and comedy in production, the trailer of which was shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Margaret Simon is nearly 12 years old, and she and her family have just moved from New York City to the suburbs of Farbook, New Jersey.

In the cast there are Rachel McAdams (Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness), Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell), Wilbur Fitzgerald (He was my son). Young Margaret is played by Abby Ryder Fortson. The direction is by Kelly Fremon Craig, who has already directed 17 years (and how to get out of it alive). He is also the screenplay, taken from the novel of the same name by Judy Blume published in 1970. In 2010, the book was included in Time’s list of the 100 best fiction books written in English since 1923, defining the novel as capable of turning “millions of preteens into readers. He did it by asking the right questions and avoiding easy answers ”.

Shooting for the film began on April 1, 2021 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and continued in Concord, ending in July. The production is by Lionsgate, which won the rights to the book after an auction: the production of the film foresees a budget of 30 million dollars. The film is released on September 16, 2022.
