Princess of Qatar, Maryam Al Thani, posted a scathing tweet about European teams participating in the World Cup. A post that has raised quite a few controversies. Al Thani wrote on her official page: «The scum of the old continent is out of the World Cup», and continued: «(England and France) remain, and my best wishes for them are the early exit from the round of 16» .
In other separate tweets, Sheikha Maryam posted an (ironic) photo of the German national team, with the comment: “Out”.
And in another tweet he wrote in English (the airport is in that direction, the flight is one way)
Germany said goodbye to the World Cup, despite the victory over the Costa Rican national team, in a match played at the Al Bayt Stadium last Thursday. And so for the second consecutive time he is out in the first phase, a very heavy flop.
Flick’s national team salutes all the controversies that have accompanied their stay, at the end of a fluctuating evening. We needed to win and wait for Spain to beat Japan, who instead repeated the surprise and with the 2-1 over Luis Enrique they go to take the round of 16 from before.
The international media did not mince words for the German national team after their departure. But it is Princess Maryam’s posts that border on the offense and so they are bouncing even in the US. Obviously, both criticisms rained down from all sides.
From “What an embarrassment” to “We’re out” and up to the captions Kicker and Der Spiegel who limit themselves to recounting the defeat without adding (much) anything else immediately after the game. But when the European teams are then compared to the scum, then anger mounts and not only on the side of the fans.
