After the announcement of The Last Duel, Ridley Scott’s new film that will see him reunite with his lifelong friend Matt Damon, and that of Deep Water by Adrian Lyne, an erotic thriller with Ana De Armas, actor Ben Affleck found also the third project.
Deadline reports that the former Dark Knight has signed for the part of the protagonist in the film adaptation of Falling to Earth, a novel by Kate Southwood. The project is being developed at Bron Studios with Affleck taking care of the production along with Matt Damon, partner of Pearl Street Films, and Aaron L. Gilbert of Bron. Eagle Eye screenwriter Hillary Seitz will adapt to the original novel.
Released in 2013, the book is based on the 1925 Tri-State Tornado, the deadliest tornado in US history. Set in Marah, Illinois, the plot centers on Paul Graves (Affleck), the only person in the town who didn’t lose everything on the day of the storm: his family, his home and his office, all remained miraculously intact and safe. A year after the matter, Paul will have to deal with resentment and hostility on the part of his fellow citizens, who in the meantime try to rise from their tragedies.
The next film with Ben Affleck is The Way Back, which will see him reunited with director Gavin O’Connor ( The Accountant ). The work, originally scheduled for October 2019, will arrive in cinemas on 6 March 2020.
