Actress Carol Garcia, who played Betina in TV Globo’s soap when Mais Vida, Melhor!, used social media on Wednesday, 22, to criticize the hiring of influencers in telenovelas.
The most recent case was with Jade Picon, who will be part of the cast of Travessia, the next 9 pm soap on Globo. Professional actors and even the Union of Artists and Technicians in Entertainment Shows of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Sated-RJ) criticized the possible lineup, before the influencer was confirmed in the telenovela.
Carol posted a video on Instagram in which she said that “there’s not a day in the artist’s life that he doesn’t think he’s wasting time without producing content for the internet”.
Because of this anguish, according to the actress, the work of actors may be in decline. She mentioned the names of some artists, such as Fernanda Montenegro, Charles Chaplin, Drica Moraes and Andréa Beltrão, and asked where they were before they became established actors.
The actress stressed that she has “nothing against” the internet, but said that scenic work is “something else”. “The scenic work is sacred, it moves culture and affectivity. Our job is to tell stories, not stories,” she added.
Carol ended by criticizing those who produce content only “for themselves”. “There are artists who are interested in producing works for the other and not for their own ego,” she said.
