Christian Bale he decided to thank the famous colleague Leonardo Dicaprio for the unwitting part he played in defining his acting career.
Speaking with GQ on the sidelines of the press promotion of Amsterdamthe new film by David O. Russell (WATCH THE ITALIAN TRAILER) the star made fun of the fact that he owes his success to the many roles he Leonardo Dicaprio he refused and then they ended up in his hands.
Christian Bale explains:
Look, to this day, any role that an actor gets is only possible because he turned it down earlier! It doesn’t matter what they tell you and how close and friendly you are to the directors. Even these people with whom I have worked several times over the years had still contacted him first. So: thanks Leo! Because, literally, he can choose whatever he wants to do. And good for him because it’s phenomenal.
Despite the preference that is often accorded to Leonardo Dicaprio, Cristian Bale explains that he has no problem if some director prefers to hire, or at least propose, a role for the Titanic star:
No (there are no problems, ed.). Also why do you have any idea how grateful I am to get every damn thing I do? Then I wouldn’t be able to do what he does. Which he does beautifully. But I suspect that any actor of similar age to his owes his career to projects he has decided not to do.
Amsterdam will be available in American cinemas from 4 October (in Italy from 27 October). In the cast of the film, along with Bale, we find: Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, Taylor Swift and Robert De Niro.
