CD Projekt was present at PAX Australia with Cyberpunk 2077, we read the statements by developer John Mamais on multiplayer and micro-transactions.
On the occasion of PAX Australia, John Mamais of CD Projekt RED talked about Cyberpunk 2077 touching on various topics, including the multiplayer and the opinions of the study regarding microtransactions.
As for the online component, Mamais explains that the Polish company is expanding enough to be able to work on multiple triple-A games simultaneously. This could then lead to a chapter of Cyberpunk focusing on multiplayer, or perhaps new intellectual property. Nothing is decided yet, he adds.
“It is known to the public that we want to achieve more triple-A titles simultaneously in the company. In the past, we have not been able to do it, but now we are growing and we could succeed in the future; or at least that’s what we hope,” he explained to GameSpot.
“We’ll see how good Cyberpunk will be. It is not up to me to say what it will be. I can tell you what I hope they can be. I like Cyberpunk, so I would like to be able to continue to create themed games. I also appreciate The Witcher. It could be anything. Even a new intellectual property or a licensed project. Who knows? It is not yet decided. ”
Relative to microtransactions, Mamais believes it is a bad idea to insert them after releasing a game, despite being very profitable. “It is probably a difficult decision for the company manager to decide whether we should do it or not. But if everyone hates it, why should we do something like this and lose our customers’ appreciation?”
We remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 16th, 2020. At PAX Australia the game was shown with a demo lasting about an hour.
