Damon Lindelof prepares a movie for Star Wars

About two weeks ago we had published the future productions of the Disney sagas, on which two mysterious films dedicated to the Star Wars saga stood out, the first expected on December 19, 2025, the second on December 19, 2027, still without an official title or plot. But maybe something is changing.

Despite some still don’t look favorably on it Lost or for rewriting the script of Prometheus (although it is now clear that Ridley Scott has his share of the blame), in recent years Damon Lindelof has managed to carve out a new niche of his own with high-level series such as The Leftovers And Watchmen, both for HBO. Yesterday Variety reported a piece of news that appears to transport him to a galaxy far, far away.

Thus we discover that Lindelof will be the co-writer of one of the upcoming untitled films dedicated to Star Wars while the director already chosen is Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, of Pakistani / Canadian origin, director of two episodes of Ms. Marvel but above all winner of two Oscars, one in 2012 for the documentary Saving Facethe other in 2016 for the documentary A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. Lindelof has not yet indicated who will be his / his collaborator on the script and the project is however in the initial stages of creation so there are no official details yet.

While the streaming saga continues its expansion with Star Wars: Andor and the future next season of The MandalorianLucasfilm had recently removed from the list of scheduled films Star Wars: Rogue Squadronwhich was to be directed by Patty Jenkins, then returned to Wonder Woman 3 And Cleopatra, both with Gal Gadot. The film saga therefore finds itself at a crossroads where to find the next direction to follow and a new footprint, also given the official declaration that the Skywalker saga is definitively over, even if it must be said that Rey (Daisy Ridley) is not in fact a Skywalker and is there residing in the desert of Tatooine, where it all began (and where everything continues to happen in the streaming series), waiting, perhaps, for new adventures.

Pending further updates what do you think, Damon Lindelof can give new cinematic hope to Star Wars?
