The Walking Dead ended with episode 11×24, but for many characters the story continues in the next spin-off series. Among them is The Walking Dead: Dead City, which will see Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) e Maggie (Lauren Cohan) go to a manhattan post-apocalyptic, a place cut off from the mainland a long time ago. Now, the Cohan explains a bit what fans can expect from the series, calling it an intimate and layered story.
Talking with Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com at the final event of The Walking DeadCohan said she’s excited to be able to continue the story of Maggie and, while not being able to reveal much about TWD: Dead Cityspoke about the emotional depth of the series.
“It’s absolutely exciting, but I would have been ready for anything because obviously we’ve had a very good long series, but to be honest, as we’ve gone on the series over the last few seasons, I’ve felt really interested in the turns my character could take. and the things the writers gave her as potential avenues to go. So when we heard there was going to be a spinoff, I was thrilled. I’m excited to do it. It’s a very intimate and layered story. And it will be fun, I think, to go to these emotional depths with a smaller group, like we will in Dead City.”
What was Maggie’s fate in The Walking Dead ending?
After making peace with Negan accepting her apology for her husband’s murder Glenn but telling him that he would never forgive him, Maggie and his son Hershel they returned to their home in the colony of Hilltoprebuilding the peaceful life he once knew on the family farm Greene. At the memorial garden where Glenn was laid, Maggie she is confident and looks to the future. As Daryl told Carol: “There are many things to discover, and I think it’s time to do it.”
What is The Walking Dead: Dead City about?
dead city was first announced in March under the name of Isle of the Dead. According to the official synopsis, the spinoff follows “Maggie and Negan in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long isolated from the mainland. The ruined city is filled with the dead and the inhabitants who have made New York City their world filled with anarchy, danger, beauty and terror.”.
“I would describe Dead City as a new kind of danger”explained the Cohan in a behind-the-scenes look at the Maggie and Negan spin-off set in New York. After seasons spent in rural Georgia, Virginia and Ohio, morgan he has declared: “We’re coming out of the woods to go to New York, which has been really fun“.
The cast of the series includes Gaius Charles (Grey’s Anatomy) as Perlie Armstrong, Karina Ortiz (Orange Is the New Black) as Amaia, Mahina Napoleon (NCIS: Hawai’i) as Ginny, Jonathan Higginbotham (The Blacklist) as Thomas, Trey Santiago-Hudson (New Amsterdam) as Jano And Zeljko Ivanek (Madam Secretary) as “The Croatian”.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will debut in April 2023 on AMC and AMC+.
