It took some time and a couple of tries before that Ana de Armas accepted the proposal to audition for Murder Dinner – Knives Out.
The reason is the description of the character he was supposed to play in Rian Johson’s film, as told by the actress to Another Magazine: “Latin American, caregiver“.
I thought: “I don’t have the energy for such a thing, what is it?“.
The actress was in the middle of filming Sergio between Thailand and Brazil, a film set in the aftermath of the American invasion of Iraq centered on the murder of the United Nations diplomat Sergio Vieira de Mello.
The role of a Latin American caregiver did not therefore seem so appealing:
I said [ai miei agenti]: “Either you tell me why it’s worth it, or I can’t do it.” I refused twice because of that description. Eventually they sent me the whole script and I thought, “Oh, fuck *!”. I did an audition on the spot.
The rest is history. Her role earned the actress a Golden Globe nomination and the admiration of colleague Daniel Craig, who eventually proposed her a role in No Time to Die.
The sequel to the film, Glass Onion – Knives Out, will arrive in streaming on Netflix starting from December 23, preceded by an early distribution at the cinema whose date has not yet been revealed. Find all the information about the film in our tab. What do you think? Leave a comment!
