Drake seemed to have a great time at the Big Steppers Tour stop in Toronto.
The Big Steppers Tour from Kendrick Lamar It’s giving something to talk about wherever it goes. Lamar is putting on incredible performances all over the US and Canada, at one of the shows even a security guard was moved to tears watching his set. In another, Kendrick gave a handwritten note to one of his young fans in the crowd. Now, the tour has become a topic once again, this time due to a surprise appearance by Drake.
The Toronto rapper couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see what all the hype is about. At the K Dot tour stop in Toronto on Friday, the city’s owner Drake was seen watching the show from a box. It looks like he was trying not to be seen, but the crowd couldn’t help but pay attention to him.
Anyone who followed Drake and Kendrick Lamar in the past may be surprised by the presence of Drake. The two hip-hop superstars had feuds for a while, starting in 2013 when Kendrick cited Drake in his legendary verse in “Control”.
According to Kendrick, this was meant as a compliment, but Drake interpreted the lyrics differently. “I have love for all of you, but I’m trying to kill you all” differently. In an interview with Billboard, Drizzy angrily responded: “That sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That is all. I know very well that Kendrick does not want to kill me at all, on any platform.”
Drake then released the single “Language”, which included the line “I don’t know why they’re lying / But you’re not that inspiring”, a lyric that many interpreted as an attack on Lamar. The two have had a cold relationship since then, but in recent years it seems like everything is getting back to normal.
The show at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena was the Canadian debut of The Big Steppers Tour and, by all accounts, went off without a hitch.
