Extravagant as in the Gucci collection, razor-sharp Carrie Bradshaw’s celines and exorbitantly high heels from Lady Gaga’s wardrobe. In the summer of 2021, high heels are extravagant, defiant and expressive. There is no question of minimalism. Sharp colors, rock details and geometric heels count.

In July 2020, the CEO of Capri Holdings, owner of, among others Jimmy Choo has expressed concerns about the high-end shoe market. During the lockdown, pins were abandoned in favor of crocs (their sales figures skyrocketed). Paradoxically, the designers, unlimited by the expectations of their customers, started sketching shoes as if they were from a dream. Even the sparing Stella McCartney decided to go for extravagance, embroidering the musketeers with sparkling sequins from the top to the tip of the upper. Miuccia Prada and Ancuta Sarca competed with sneakers by creating a hybrid of heels and sneakers, and Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga proposed an avant-garde view of armor by offering metal ankle boots on a steel platform.

The most famous high heels ever

Although the history of high heels dates back only to the 1950s (the first ones in Paris had the label of Roger Vivier, and in Milan – Salvatore Ferragamo), from the very beginning they embody feminine strength. Maybe because their name is derived from an Italian word stiletto meaning “dagger”. It was not without reason that they adorned the legs of Alexis (Joan Collins) from “Dynasty”, agent Jane (Angelina Jolie) from “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” (a blood-red pin turns into a devilish The fork appeared on the movie poster) and finally her subordinate Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway), whose shoe on a razor-sharp spike heralded the last stage of transformation.

Today, extravagant stilettos are worn by Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the continuation of the series “Sex and the City”, entitled “And Just Like That …”. Favorite shoes from Manolo Blahnik (they were one of the most popular brands in the series, right after “Vogue” and Martini, and they almost replaced her engagement ring) she replaced with Celine’s sky-high platforms. Lady Gaga and one of the most fashionable young designers, Harris Reed, and a robotics engineer Mark Bryan have not parted with similar ones for several days.

Here are the most spectacular high heels for the coming months:

Versace: On the last safety pin

One of the most iconic red carpet dresses is the performance of Elizabeth Hurley, in which she appeared opposite Hugh Grant in the 1994 pre-measure of “Four Weddings and a Funeral”. Made of black georgette, with a crack running from the top of the shoulder straps to the hip, secured with six golden safety pins with the image of a jellyfish from the Italian fashion house Versace, it caused quite a stir. What better way to enter the world of extravagance than stilettos reminiscent of that outfit?

Amina Muaddi: Marie Antoinette boots

They are closer to Marie Antoinette or Madame Pompadour jacquard ankle boots built on a platform made of pine wood than to classic high heels. But maybe 18th-century France is the key to extravagance? When looking for the perfect model, Amina Muaddi offers leather sandals, mules painted with animal prints or models resembling Cinderella shoes, made of transparent PVC. We chose the version without heels, upholstered in champagne-colored satin.

Zara: A classic of the genre

The basket-shaped upper of Zara pumps follows a pattern popular in the 1930s and 1940s, and therefore earlier than high heels. The shoes are supported by a slender heel mounted on a metal spike (previously they were mainly made of wood). For this metallic sheen straight from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Bottega Veneta: The starry sky

The flagship Stretch model has been immersed in an ocean of crystals, in line with Marilyn Monroe’s maxim: “Diamonds are a woman’s best friend.” On the other hand, with the return of the fashion from the 2000s, it is worth buying crystal accessories – a shiny purse from Magda Butrym or Alexander Wang, Miu Miu glasses or a Blumarine belt.
