FC Barcelona: Ousmane Dembélé’s agent has spoken. “It’s not just about money”

Moussa Sissoko, Ousmane Dembélé’s agent, spoke to L’Équipe about FC Barcelona’s problems with extending his client’s contract.

“We often talk about money with Ousmane’s extension, but it’s not just a question of money. But also for day-to-day management. It is really difficult for us to understand this sports management when a player joins the team without training right after the coronavirus – emphasized Sissoko.

But it seems it was all about money. FC Barcelona does not intend to agree to the extremely exorbitant demands of agents – according to the media, as much as EUR 43 million gross a year, to which bonuses would still be added.

Meanwhile, Dembélé, who cost Barcelona € 140 million when he moved from Borussia Dortmund in summer 2017, is still struggling with more injuries. During the season, he played in just ten matches, spending only 564 minutes on the pitch in total. During this time, he managed to record a goal and assist his colleagues twice.

The contract of the 24-year-old French representative ends in June this year. He is primarily interested in Premier League clubs, which, however, with the multitude of his injuries, will also rather not want to spend such money on his salary.

It is hard to say whether there will be another twist on the talks with Barcelona if the player’s representatives decide to reduce the demands.
