Filming Italy Los Angeles, the 8th edition in February

The eighth edition of Filming Italy – Los Angeles with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles to be held from 28 February until 3 March 2023 in Los Angeles, in collaboration with APA extension (Association of Audiovisual Producers) and under the auspices of Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles.

Created and organized by Tiziana Rocca, Agnus Dei and fromItalian Cultural Institute Los Angeles, Filming Italy – Los Angeles in addition to promoting Italy as a film set and bridge between Italian and American culture, it supports Italian cultural growth through its cinema, the internationalization of Italian audiovisual products and supports intercultural relations between the various directors, producers and artists .

One of the protagonists of this edition will be Giancarlo Giannini. The great actor, pride of Italian Cinema in the world, will be given the Filming Italy Achievement Award on the evening of March 3, while the March 6th the laying ceremony will take place Star dedicated to him – the Italian sixteenth – on the Walk of Fame Of Hollywood. For the occasion, the Filming Italy will screen a marathon of films dedicated to him.

The Filming Italy – Los Angeles can only be dedicated to the memory of Gina Lollobrigida, undisputed diva and icon of Italian spirit on a global level. This edition, which among the many events will also see the awarding of the Star on Walk of Fame to Giancarlo GianniniI want to dedicate it to Gina Lollobrigidaan extraordinary woman and actress who leaves a void that cannot be filled, a great friend of mine and of the Festival.

An edition that will be richer and more varied than ever, we are evaluating many works – we have already selected some over 60, including Italian films, television series, shorts and docu-films, many of which have not yet been released anywhere in the world. And of course there will be masterclasses and panels with many Italian and international guests and artists, with whom we will address the future of the seventh art and its still difficult restart. Like last year, 50% of the Festival will be held live, thus not abandoning the other half digitally, which thanks to the streaming platform has allowed an ever greater participation of the public, including many young students located in different areas of the States United”.

Also this year, together with the Festival, we will present the IIC Los Angeles Creativity Award. Recognition of Italian excellence in the world in every creative field, the prize has already been awarded to important personalities of our cinema – including Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida, Carlo Verdone, Claudia Gerini, Mario Martone, Gianfranco Rosi, Lina Wertmüller, Gabriele Salvatores and Gabriele Muccino”.

This year the Festival will offer an even richer program, with Italian and international guests, with the aim of enhancing the cinema of our country: on the program over 60 titlesincluding films, TV series, unpublished and unpublished documentary films, short films, as well as numerous master class. Two are also planned institutional panels.

Confirmed also this year the collaboration with Women in Film, TV & Media Italy. Born in Los Angeles, WIF extension has been supporting working women in film and behind the camera since 1973. Today WIF organizations around the world are working towards a more equal industry through awareness programs, incentives and legal advocacy. Precisely to support women in the world of cinema – that the Filming Italy – Los Angeles reward with the “Woman Power Award” – on this occasion, Women in Film, Television & Media Italia will present several first works by some talented screenwriters, actresses and producers.

New in this edition will be the section CLASSICdedicated to the great restored classics, in collaboration with the Experimental Center of Cinematography. The film will be screened for the occasion The door of heaven(1945) directed by Vittorio De Sica, restored by CSC – National Film Archive And Culture and Territory Workshop Associationin collaboration with Italian Catholic Actionand promoted by CAST of UniNettuno with the support of ISACEM.

Filming Italy – Los Angelesin 50% live and 50% digital mode, will be held on the streaming platform MyMovies, which will create a virtual room for the occasion for the US public, which also includes producers, distributors, artists and students from the Italian and film departments of local universities. Online screenings will only be viewable in the United States and will comply with established security and cyber protection parameters with Hollywood Grade DRM.

The portal, also available in an app version that can be downloaded from digital stores, provides all the useful information on locations and incentives available for those who want to shoot their own film in Italy, as well as sector news and lots of curiosities and travel suggestions for enthusiasts who want to visit movie locations.

The Filming Italy – Los Angeles will have the support of the major Italian production and distribution companies and national majors, such as RAI Cinema, RAI Fiction, RAI Com, RAI Movie, SKY Italia, Vision Distribution, Greenland, Eagle Pictures, Fremantle, True Colours, HBO, Fandango, Medusa, Mediaset, Minerva Pictures, Iervolino Entertainment and several other independent Italian productions, often in international co-productions with Netflix And Amazon.

For issues inherent and connected to environmental protection, Filming Italy – Los Angeles renews its collaboration with DoEnvironmentthe European ecological movement for sustainable development, of which the philosopher Vincenzo Pepe.

Filming Italy – Los Angeles is attentive to the care and protection of the environment, in fact making all the awards with eco-sustainable and recycled materials, to promote environmental protection, using materials such as glass, a “green carpet” and recycled materials.
