Exterior Bellocchio’s night at the Eden cinema: Fabrizio Gifuni in the photo is Aldo Moro, Margherita Buy his wife Eleonora, Toni Servillo the Pope Paul VI
The long-awaited sequel to 1986’s “Top Gun” hits the screens. The Eden cinema will preview it tomorrow and Sunday and then remain in programming next week. The teenagers who almost forty years ago turned that film into one of the highest grossing in the history of cinema are now close to 60. Who knows if they will get back in line (even if unfortunately there are no more lines) to see the new adventures of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise), a US Navy officer who has been promoted over the years to the rank of ship captain (unfortunately there will be Kelly McGillis). The big news of the week, however, is the return to the cinema of Marco Bellocchio with a powerful television work that arrives in the cinema in two parts of almost three hours each. Simultaneously with the Cannes 2022 festival here is “Outside night” with which the master Bellocchio returns to the years of lead that bloodied the country. After having already recounted the days of the Moro kidnapping with “Buongiorno notte”, the eighty-year-old director still in a state of grace returns to the subject by choosing (as always) the great actors of our cinema: Fabrizio Gifuni is Aldo Moro, Margherita Buy his wife Eleonora , Toni Servillo Paul VI. Not to be missed. At the Terminal “Gagarine – protect what you love”: again French cinema to tell the story of a boy who aims to save a residential complex from demolition, the neighborhood where he grew up, the neighborhood of memories. For the Cineflianti review, Sunday at 10.30 “Volare oh oh”, for the review Stories of cinema: four documentaries on Italy in film, on Tuesday evening there is “Cecilia Mangini – the world in shots”.
The Pecci continues with the tribute to Pierpaolo Pasolini re-proposing “The flower of a thousand and one nights” with two of his favorite actors, Franco Citti and Ninetto Davoli. Among the other films in the program are “Atlantis”, “The Nose or the conspiracy of the mavericks”; from tomorrow it completes the bill “The Northman” with a stellar cast including Nicole Kidman. Wednesday the documentary “Nick Cave – This much i know to be true”. Among the testimonies collected by director Andrew Dominik also that of the legendary Marianne Faithfull.
