The situation on the electronics market remains unhappy, and equipment manufacturers have a problem with supplies. Nevertheless, Nvidia clearly has a successful quarter behind it.

For people looking for new computer hardware, the last dozen or so months was a real ordeal. Market shortages can be felt by players at every step, and problems with deliveries are not unknown to buyers looking for smartphones, laptops, etc. These problems also affected the financial results of GPU producers ?? apart from Nvidiawhich has a very good quarter behind it.

Jon Peddie Research has published a report on the condition of the graphics card market. For Intel and AMD, the third quarter of 2021 was terrible. The manufacturer of Radeons shipped 11.4% fewer GPUs to stores than three months earlier. In the case of Intel (data including integrated cards), the decline was even greater, by as much as 25.6%.

What about Nvidia? Not only did it not record losses ?? the company sent sellers more cards than in the second quarter (an increase of 8%). Considering the dominance of ?? green ?? on the graphics card market (see the latest Steam hardware survey), we can assume that it is their products that we owe to the increase in GPU sales from year to year. Recall that recently Nvidia reported record revenues in the third fiscal quarter (ie the period from August to October), which increased by half compared to last year.

What’s more, After narrowing down the data to dedicated PC graphics cards, it turns out that 10.9% more copies were sent to stores than in the previous quarter.

It does not change the fact that in the third quarter the situation on the GPU market was much worse than in the second one, which is unique. Over the last 10 years, the average decrease in sales (ie GPUs sent to stores) was 5.2%. Now it is 18.2%. The report also mentions similar problems in the sectors of PC processors (-23.1% quarter on quarter, + 9.2% year on year) and tablets (-6.9% compared to the second quarter).

As you can see, Nvidia’s success is an exception in a market that has been severely affected by supply problems. Sony, Intel, Valve, Nintendo and even Apple struggle with these. Sorry, John Peddie ?? president of JPR ?? he repeated what many electronics manufacturers had said: ?? there is nothing to count on stabilizing supply chains before the end of 2022 ??.
