The incident occurred after midnight from Monday to Tuesday in Yiewsley, a remote suburb in west London, and on Wednesday evening the police announced that the victim was a 46-year-old Polish citizen, Dariusz W.
Police said he was attacked with a knife after an argument with a group of men in the street and died as a result of his injuries on the spot despite resuscitation attempts. The perpetrators fled the scene and so far no one has been arrested.
According to the Evening Standard, this was the second murder in Yiewsley in five days, although the previous one occurred in 2021. A 16-year-old boy was then fatally stabbed. He became the 30th teenager murdered in London last year, the worst balance sheet ever.
Of these 30 teenage victims, 27 died as a result of stabbing, two were fatally shot and one died in a building on fire. This means that teenagers accounted for more than a quarter of the homicide victims in London last year, even though their share of the total population is 8%.
