After the flop of “Fantastic Beasts”, Warner Bros would be willing to bring the most famous (and profitable) wizard in the world back to the big screen. But with a whole new cast
It’s been 12 years since we last saw Harry Potter in cinemas. It was 2011 and the world’s most famous wizard concluded his adventure in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Since then, fans have had to settle for various video games, a play (Harry Potter and the curse of the heire), a spin-off of dubious success (Fantastic Beasts) and a New Years television special. But the desire for new stories related to Hogwarts has always remained on, even from the point of view of the production house that has earned millions of dollars on the saga. A REBOOT OF THE SAGA – Warner’s idea is, in fact, to completely redo the Harry Potter saga with new faces. Thus going to replace the original cast, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in primis. If initially there was discussion of an expansion of the narrative universe created by JK Rowling, the scoop released on Twitter and then on YouTube by Wdw Pro and ValliantRenegad showed a completely different direction. David Zaslav, head of Wb Discovery, had already confirmed, in recent months, how the intention was to bring spectators back to the cinema, making the saga known especially to the younger ones: “We haven’t had a Superman film for 13 years . We haven’t made a Harry Potter film for 15 years. The Harry Potter films have provided much of Warner’s profits over the past 25 years.”

WHAT WE KNOW – According to rumors, it will take between 3 and 5 years to see this project completed. The search for new films, in fact, is not only linked to new actors who take on the face of Harry, Ron and Hermione, but also to aesthetics and themes that can make the saga more contemporary. And precisely for this reason, it is not yet clear whether JK Rowling will be involved: in recent years the writer has in fact been the subject of much controversy due to her transphobic positions.

THE REACTIONS – Despite the desire to see Harry Potter again in the cinema, there was no lack of unenthusiastic reactions to the news. The interpretation of the actors of the original saga is a milestone for many fans, who would struggle to recognize them in new faces. Being able to conquer them with a reboot will in all likelihood be the real challenge for the franchise.
