How the DAZN-Sky agreement works starting from 8 August

Wednesday 3 August in the late evening the Italian telephone operator TIM issued a press release in which it announced that it had renegotiated the agreement it entered into last year with DAZN, the streaming platform that has the TV rights for the Italian Serie A football championship (and more) in its belly. In a nutshell, the new agreement says that TIM renounces exclusivity, so DAZN can return to broadcast on Sky.

This does not mean that DAZN will disappear from the offer TimVision, where on the contrary it remains, but which will also be available on other platforms. A second TIM-DAZN agreement followed agreementthat of last night between DAZN and Sky, thanks to which all this will pass from theory to practice. The agreement will in fact be operational as early as August 8, thanks to the fact that the commercial offer is already ready and the costs for users have been established. On the other hand, there is no technical change in the DAZN streaming broadcasting infrastructure, developed last year after the inevitable youth problems. Here’s how DAZN will work on the Sky platform from 8 August.

How DAZN works on Sky

What needs to be clarified immediately, for the avoidance of doubt, is that DAZN is and remains a streaming platform even after the agreement with Sky. With the new agreement, a specific DAZN app will arrive for Sky Q, the Sky decoder that can be used to watch DAZN exclusive matches.

The DAZN app on Sky Q will be available both via the remote control and via voice command “Open DAZN“.

However, and this is the news, the new channel will also arrive DAZN area (to the number 214 of the Sky remote control), which will broadcast the 7 DAZN games via satellite. Clearly the user will have to be a subscriber to both Sky and DAZN and, to see Zona DAZN, he will have to pay a small monthly addition.

More than a commercial offer, therefore, in this case we are talking about oftechnical wound: DAZN, now, ha one more platform from which to reach who is already its user.

How much does DAZN cost on Sky

In summary, to see DAZN on Sky it will be necessary to be subscribed to both DAZN and Sky and the Zona DAZN channel. DAZN prices have recently increased to 29.99 euros per month for DAZN Standard ea 39.99 euros per month for DAZN Plus.

It will be possible to add to both of these subscriptions DAZN area, at the price of 5 euros per month. This additional monthly subscription will be activated by the user within the personal area of the DAZN app or the platform’s website. The DAZN Zone channel will start broadcasting the8 August.
