The new Intel Alder Lake processors are primarily associated with the leading Core i9, Core i9 or Core i5 units, which were created in the new 10 nm lithography and have additional energy-saving Gracemont cores. So far, however, we have only learned about the top models of the new series. On the way there are not only cheaper Core i3 or units with a locked multiplier, but also very cheap processors intended for the least demanding consumers, i.e. Pentium Gold and Celeron systems. As we know, the history of Rocket Lake chips was very short and the manufacturer simply did not pay off to prepare budget units from this family. This time, however, there is no room for excuses.
We expect the Pentium Gold G7400 and Celeron G6900 to debut in early 2022 along with the locked Core i9 / i7 / i5 / i3 models.
Intel Core i5-12400 tested in PugetBench. The results confirm the performance at the level of the Ryzen 5 5600X
It looks like Intel will soon present the Pentium Gold G7400 and Celeron G6900 processors. The first one will be 2-core / 4-thread, and its clock speed will be 3.7 GHz. Celeron is to be a 2-core / 2-thread unit running at 3.4 GHz. Most importantly, both processors will be based on the Alder Lake architecture and Golden Cove cores, which is suggested by the BX80715 designation in the product code (the other Alder Lake models are labeled the same). So we can expect a significant increase in performance compared to the previous cheap Pentium and Celeron chips, although the low clock speed of the G7400 model (300 MHz slower than the G6400) may be disturbing.
11th generation Intel Core processors are not only Rocket Lake? Core i3, Pentium, and Celeron models can be Comet Lake Refresh chips
Both processors have already appeared in the offer of one of the Canadian stores. The Intel Pentium Gold G7400 is priced at CAD 123 (approx. $ 97), while the Celeron G6900 is priced at CAD 91 (approx. $ 72). However, we can expect that the official price of the processors will ultimately be slightly lower. We expect both chips to debut in early 2022 along with the locked Core i9 / i7 / i5 / i3 models.
