It Takes Two is the most awarded game of 2021

Which game released in 2021 was the best? If you look at the list of the most awarded and follow it, there may be only one answer.

It Takes Two with the most numerous prizes

Even if some plebiscites are still waiting to be decided, there are so few of them left that nothing will change. On the Game Awards website, you can see the list of the most awarded games from 2021. And the mentioned It Takes Two definitely escaped the rest of the stake, because it can boast as many as 69 awards, 54 of which were awarded by the industry media, and the remaining 15 are awards from players.

  1. It Takes Two – 69 awards (media: 54, players: 15)
  2. Resident Evil Village – 49 awards (26, 23)
  3. Forza Horizon 5 – 39 awards (27, 12)
  4. Deathloop – 30 awards (26, 4)
  5. Metroid Dread – 27 awards (25, 2)

We are not particularly surprised, we also rated the production of Hazelight very highly, which you can recall when looking at the reviews. We also nominated it in our plebiscite for the Product of the Year 2021 and it is possible that with your votes it will win here. If you haven’t taken part yet, this is your last chance, because we are closing the vote in a few hours.

2021 was a weak year, but we shouldn’t belittle It Takes Two

The past 12 months have brought more high-profile delays than the awaited premieres. On the other hand, in the end, the above list, which presents the five most awarded games in 2021, contains very interesting titles. How was it in previous years? According to the aforementioned Game Awards, in 2020 the opening credits include The Last of Us Part II (317 awards), Ghost of Tsushima (71), Hades (70), Cyberpunk 2077 (38) and Final Fantasy VII Remake (34), while in 2019, Death Stranding (116), Resident Evil 2 (93), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (83), Control (36) and Disco Elysium (20) dominated.

It’s just that they’re leaders. If we were to delve into further positions, 2021 would start to look much worse due to the delays already caused. Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga, Dying Light 2, Gran Turismo 7, Gotham Knights, God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon: Forbidden West and Atomic Heart are just some of the games that, contrary to the original assumptions, did not hit our hands.

If all of these games had been released, would It Takes Two have received fewer awards? That’s possible. Would this detract from the attractiveness of this game? It should not, because in its category it is good, very good.
