Johnny Deep can boast a crowd of loyal fans. It was they who warmly welcomed the actor at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Depp was there to receive awards for his work on two different projects as well as to present his new project Crock of Gold: a few rounds with Shane MacGowan. Despite the ongoing trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard, hundreds of people showed up at the festival cheering for the star.
The actor reportedly signed dozens of autographs for fans who lined up to see him. Moreover, it is said to be the largest crowd to date at the Karlovy Vary festival.
Johnny Depp – a difficult point in the career
This warm welcome runs counter to Johnny Depp’s recent failures in the industry. Losing case against The Sun, who called him a “wifey” removed him from the role of Grindelwald in the film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He will take his place in the universe Mads Mikkelsen.
Nevertheless, Karlovy Vary is not the only place where Johnny Depp is to be honored in the near future. In September, the San Sebastian Film Festival will honor him with the prestigious Donostia Award. This verdict met with strong opposition from the film community and Internet users.
Depp fans, however, believe in his innocence.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard – Legal Struggle
Currently, the judicial battle between the ex-spouses is far from over. Depp is currently suing Amber Heard for defamation. They both accuse each other of various abuses.
The court case seems to affect Heard’s career to a much lesser extent. The actress is still set to play Mera in Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom. However, a petition was circulating on the web to be relieved of this role, just like Depp, to lose his involvement in the film from the Harry Potter universe.
Johnny Depp has several upcoming projects ahead of him, including a movie Minamata or an animated series Puffins.
