The dramedy, a sequel to the Christmas movie of the same name, will continue to tell the adventures of Scott Calvin, the replacement for Santa Claus.
The cast of The Santa Clause (still working title), the sequel series to the famous Christmas film of the same name in which Tim Allen played Scott Calvin, Santa’s replacement. Deadline let us know that he has signed up to fill a regular role in the project, expected to be streamed on Disney + by next Christmas, the young actress Matilda Lawlerrecently seen in Station Eleven by HBO Max and in the movie Flora & Ulysses. It joins the other regular cast members already announced Tim Allen, Elizabeth Mitchell, Kal Penn and Elizabeth Allen-Dick.
The plot of The Santa Clause
The event series is created by Jack Burditt (30 Rock, Frasier, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), also executive producer with Kevin Hench, with whom Allen worked for years on the sitcom The man of the house. According to the first information released, Scott Calvin is about to turn 65 and realizes he can’t be Santa forever. She is starting to lose track of her responsibilities as Santa Claus and, more importantly, she has a family that could finally benefit from a life in the normal world, most notably her two children who grew up at the Pole. With quite a few elves, children and a family to please, Scott searches for a suitable Santa to replace him as he prepares his family for a new adventure for a life south of the Pole..
The cast: The role of Matilda Lawler
13-year-old Matilda Lawler will play Betty, Santa’s grumpy and pretentious chief of staff. She is described as the smartest elf in the room, and one who doesn’t mind arguing with Santa to make sure the reindeer fly in time. Maybe she lacks some humor, but only because she is deeply devoted to her work of hers.
The other characters
Elizabeth Mitchell, we remember, will reprise the role of Calvin’s wife, Carol, while Elizabeth Allen-Dick (daughter of Tim Allen also in reality) will be the youngest daughter of Calvin and Carol, Austin Kane will be the eldest son; Devin Bright will play Noel, Santa’s trusty elf; Kal Penn will be game inventor and product developer Simon Choksi finally Rupali Redd she will play Grace, the latter’s loving daughter.
