Wolfowicz, quoted by the Belarusian agency, says that the use of “tanks, self-propelled artillery and combat helicopters” (such combat equipment did not hit the border with Belarus – ed.) Against “defenseless people” is not a proof of force.
– What they show is not strength, but powerlessness, in my opinion. They fired water cannons and sprayed gas towards the territory of a neighboring country. Thus, they violated the international obligations, the observance of which they so loudly call for, and targeted the territory of a foreign country. We did not use water cannons and tear gas in response. What if Poland used self-propelled artillery against migrants? This would start a war in the center of Europe – said Wolfowicz.
The regime’s representative in Minsk referred to the clash at the Kuźnica-Bruzgi border crossing from several days ago. Polish officers and soldiers guarding the border were then pelted with stones and rocket grenades by a group of about 100 aggressive immigrants during an attempt to force their way through the Polish border. In response, the Polish side used, inter alia, water cannons.
In an interview with the BiełTA agency, Wolfowicz also said that Belarus “fully experienced the nightmare of World War II”. – To this day, we are digging up the remains of the victims. We tremble with horror as we recall what the Nazis and their associates did. Therefore, we have no right to allow it to happen again. Belarus has no right to make a political error, let alone a military error

Aleksandr Wolfowicz, secretary of state in the National Security Council of Belarus

A state of emergency has been in force on the Polish-Belarus border since September 2 in connection with the increased migratory pressure on the Polish border in this part of it. The pressure is to be the result of a hybrid war waged by the Belarusian authorities, which bring immigrants from the Middle East and Africa to their territory, and then make it easier for them to get to the border with Poland, as well as the borders with Lithuania and Latvia. These actions are the response of the Minsk regime to the sanctions imposed on Belarus by the EU.
Due to the situation at the border, the government decided to build a dam on the border, 5.5 meters high. The dam is to be built by mid-2022. In Iraq, Belarusian consulates in Baghdad and Irbil have been closed. In addition, after talks with the Turkish side, in the face of the threat of EU sanctions that could affect Turkish Airlines, tickets for planes flying from Turkish airports to Minsk, not only Turkish Airlines, but also Belarusian Belavia, can no longer be bought by Iraqi citizens, Syria and Yemen.
On November 15, immigrants camped near the closed border crossing in Kuźnica Białostocka moved to the immediate vicinity of the crossing. The attack lasted several hours, several Polish policemen, as well as a Border Guard officer and a soldier were injured.
On November 18, a group of around 430 immigrants who have stayed in Belarus in recent weeks, returned to Iraq on a plane sent by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
