Mysterious death on vacation
Sharon Fielding, 50, was found dead on September 15 during a two-week vacation in Nerja. Her daughter despaired not only because of the death of her beloved mother, but also because she has no idea what happened to her.
Spanish authorities were to tell Jamielee that her mother had fallen into the street and died of a head injury. But then she was surprised to read in the death record that the 50-year-old had died of pulmonary edema – a condition caused by excess fluid in the lungs. And you can’t get that by falling in the street.
– I couldn’t believe it when I got a call saying my mother had passed away. She wrote to me the day before and made an appointment with me on the day of my return, Jamielee tells the Daily Record. “I was confused when we got two different causes of death,” she adds.
However, this was not the end of unpleasant surprises. “Since death was caused by pulmonary edema, I didn’t expect to see anything bad on my mom’s body. But there was this in her forehead a huge concave holethat no one told me about. That’s when I started screaming, “What happened to my mom? What happened to her head? ” – says the 32-year-old.

She “fell” on the freeway, in wet clothes
Aside from two different causes of death, Jamelee has no idea when her mother was last seen, how she ended up where she was found – a 43-minute walk from the hotel – or what time her body was discovered. As if the police did not investigate at all, considering the tourist’s death as an accident.
Jamelee says it wasn’t your typical place for a human being. – It was rocky embankment between two busy highwaysi. My mom doesn’t drive a car. Also, don’t go on the highway on foot. I don’t know how she got there. The more I think about it, the more I have the impression that she has been abandoned there – emphasizes the British.
The family’s suspicions increased even more when they were brought back soaked clothes Sharon. – How did they get wet? This neighborhood looks like a desert! Was she drowned and then thrown out? – wonders the daughter of the deceased woman.
Jamielee can’t help feeling that something bad has happened, but says local law enforcement has not been helpful. – The Spanish police have completely ignored me. They treated me like an intruder – she said.
What or who is behind the strange death of a tourist?
The body of the 50-year-old has already been brought to Scotland. “A second postmortem examination was carried out, but I was told we couldn’t get the results until the Spanish reports had arrived, and that could take a year,” Jamelee says.
He now hopes to raise enough money to hire a private investigator to try to get answers to key questions. And it costs dearly. That is why she decided to launch a fundraiser.
– We are in limbo. This is terrible. But I know that I will not be able to mourn until I do everything in my power to find out what happened, the woman emphasizes. – My mom was my best friend. I talked to her every day and we did everything together. I can’t believe what happened – he adds.
A spokesman for the Crown Office and the Fiscal Prosecutor’s Office told the Daily Record the case was referred to COPFS by the Death Certificate Revision Service. “The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with Police Scotland, but COPFS has limited jurisdiction over deaths that occur outside of Scotland,” he explained.
