Nathalie Emmanuel talks about being a hacker in “The Fate of the Furious”

Nathalie Emmanuel has not been at home much lately. By home, he means London.
“I mean, my things are in there, do you know?”, We account of the English actress. “Rarely am. But I’m technically living in London”. But travelling is good for her. “It is never too much. It’s going to come a time when that will not happen so much. You have to enjoy it while it happens.”

In summary, she has been busy. Since 2013, Emmanuel, of 28 years, has given life to Missandei, the interpreter of Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones”. Then it was absorbed by the franchise “Maze Runner”. It later became a part of the team of junkies of speed (sorry I wanted to say: “family”) of the series “Fast and Furious”. Starting with “Furious 7” and continuing with the new “The Fate of the Furious”, in theaters in RD, where he plays Ramsey, a hacker, and another member of the women’s team of our heroes (after Michelle Rodriguez), who fortunately does not have to be driving.

Although the eighth installment is only the second appearance of Ramsey, Emmanuel says that his character is already a bit tired of the experience. On the one hand, she spends most of the movie being overly seduced by Roman (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges), resulting in many close-ups with a few looks of contempt on her part.

“It’s like, ‘Oh, for the love of God, these guys are stupid”, says Emmanuel. “She finds it a bit funny. It probably has been so for a while. I quite like the fact that she is already a bit jaded, like, ‘OK, guys, I understood’”.

It also shows, she feels, how much Ramsey stands out from the herd. “She is there as someone who is very skilled, he has earned his right to be a part of this team. It is not necessarily connected with anyone else. She is very independent of them. All of them have grown up together, and she does not have that history.
In real life, Emmanuel is not the coach that plays on the screen. One does not have to be a hacker to interpret one. But you seem like you know what you’re doing, which is not always easy.

“Sometimes you can tell when someone is faking. Some actors say that it’s obvious when an actor doesn’t smoke. I was worried that the people said: ‘We note that she does not write well all the time,’” says Emmanuel. So basically practiced, well, write. “A trick that made the film was to think of sentences in my head and write them on the keyboard, a phone number or address, whatever. I tried to do that it seems that they had thoughts that come to me between the fingers.

The movies of the saga “Furious” can be considered to be among the entertainments biggest in the planet, but “Game of Thrones” also. During the five seasons that has been in the program, has been able to leave that Missandei will grow considerably in the character’s quiet and reserved that it was in the beginning.

“It used to be that she was not considered a human being. It is the considered property. Suddenly, he had to navigate a landscape that was completely alien to her. He had to make decisions. She has feelings, or emotions, and you wonder if you should express them,” explains Emmanuel. “It’s a whole new territory for her. If you have been brainwashed and indoctrinated your whole life and suddenly your environment changes, there will always be a slight battle with that inside of yourself. In the series you can see it evolve and open up, find their way, essentially. It’s great to have the time to explore that.”

This exploration of characters, complicated extends to everyone else, too, she finds. “Actually invites us not to see them as good or bad or heroic or funny. All are complex characters with layers,” he says. “An example would be Jaime Lannister: What we hate from the beginning, but we have come to love him since he has been separated from Cersei. He has done some bad things, but has also done some noble things. We are attached to them.
