With the end of the season, Leonardo’s period as PSG’s sporting director also ended. The Brazilian, who joined the Paris team in 2019, said goodbye to the French champions after a campaign in which he stumbled again in the Champions League, a competition from which he was eliminated by Real Madrid in the round of 16.

However, the Brazilian, before leaving the post, already had his new project in mind for the team and was working on big signings for this summer. According to the French newspaper “Le Parisien”, Leonardo had been preparing for the next season for many months. He had clear ideas, the main lines of the project of the future. For starters, the man I had in mind to be the team’s reigner was the Brazilian naturalized Italian, Thiago Motta. Now, however, it looks like Christophe Galtier will be announced as the new head coach in the next few hours.

As reinforcements for PSG, Leonardo intended to count on names such as French midfielder Paul Pogba, from Manchester United; Senegalese striker Sadio Mané, ex-Liverpool and now Bayern Munich; and also French striker Ousmane Dembele, who is leaving Barcelona.

Messi on PSG’s sales list

Surprisingly, Argentine striker Lionel Messi was placed on the sales list by the club’s new director, Luis Campos. According to journalist Pedro Morata, from the Spanish newspaper ‘Marca’, Messi could have three future destinations: Barcelona, thanks to his excellent relationship with Xavi; Major League Soccer, especially David Beckham’s team Inter Miami; in addition to Manchester City, for the good relationship of the Argentine with the coach of the Citizens, Pep Guardiola.

PSG in a year below expected

Paris Saint-Germain fans got into trouble with the team last season. Despite handily winning Ligue 1, eliminations in the Coupe de France and, especially, in the Champions League, weighed heavily on the French club’s year.

Athletes like Neymar and Messi were heavily criticized for their low productivity. Neymar suffered a lot with injuries and, when he was on the pitch, he didn’t show much inspiration. In addition, Mbappé sometimes tried to force his way out of PSG, but ended up renewing his contract with the club. Now, both the Argentine and Brazilian ace are on the list to be sold.
