OFFICIAL: Olympique Lyonnais with the first penalty for interrupted meeting with Olympique de Marseille

Olympique Lyon will play their next Ligue 1 game against Stade de Reims with empty stands.

Representatives of Ligue de Football Professionnel have published a second announcement relating to the events taking place on Sunday evening at Groupama Arena, when the match was abandoned as a result of Dimitri Payet hitting the head with a bottle of water thrown from the home sector by one of the fans.

This time, the statement relates to the implementation of a precautionary measure – the closure of the Olympique Lyonnais facility for the upcoming game against the Stade de Reims (December 1 at 21:00).

This is a routine procedure used by the Ligue 1 organizers, as the Disciplinary Board does not meet until December 8 and then it will decide to impose stricter penalties on Les Gones. And those, apart from the fine and the closure of the stadium for a longer period, may involve the deduction of at least a point from the achievements so far.

Moreover, the aforementioned body will deal with the further fate of the match that was interrupted after just a few minutes, which will probably be played in empty stands and / or on neutral ground.

It cannot be ruled out that the Disciplinary Commission will resort to more drastic measures after previous similar events and punish OL with a forfeit.
