Travis Barker praised Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and jxdn in an interview with billboard (via NME). For the Blin-182 drummer, singers are responsible for keeping pop punk alive for the public and record labels.
barkerhowever, does not consider that the artists’ albums necessarily have the same style – some of them just had a strong influence from the genre: “I like the album by olivia. I love everything billie did. I’m not going to say ‘This is pop punk.’ I’ll say, ‘This song was released, like Avril’s “Tell Me About Tomorrow” by jxdn“Tickets To My Downfall” [do Macinhe Gun Kelly]were all inspired by pop punk.”

“That doesn’t mean it’s pop punk. Olivia Rodrigo will probably make another record with a bit of pop punk influence and some other references as well. billie will do musical magic and be inspired by many styles,” continued the drummer.
olivia and billie help to break the rules of the genre and in the renewal, according to barker. “You don’t have to play by the rules or keep music sterile like the record companies or any other distribution plan,” he added.
