Novak Djoković and Cameron Norrie met for the first time. They faced the end of the group stage of the Tournament of Champions in Turin. This match did not have any impact on the final decisions at this stage of the event. The Serb was sure of the promotion, and Norrie had no chance of it. The Briton entered the game as a substitute to replace the injured Stefanos Tsitsipas. The leader of the ranking smashed him 6: 2, 6: 1 and he finished the group stage without a lost set.

In the first game of the match, Djoković settled in his favor a trade of 29 hits and made a breakout. The Serb played with great freedom and had full control of the match.

He spread his opponent around the corners with deep balls, served very well and returneed. Norrie found no effective answers to the exact moves of the leader of the rankings. The Briton tried to speed up the game, but it often ended with errors. One of his mistakes cost him a pass in the fifth game. Djoković did not hesitate even the slightest moment. The result of the first set at 6: 2 was an ace.

In the second game, Norrie again lost service in the first game. At the break point, his slide did not come out. The Briton was able to take the initiative, but there was hesitation and he had problems with sealing the action. After a while he had the only break point in the match, but Djoković saved him.

The Serb kept the ball in court, and Norrie made more and more mistakes not only in long but also in short exchanges. In the fifth game, the Brit returned the application again. Reconciled with his fate, he did not take up the fight anymore and the points ran away very quickly. At 6-2, 5-1, Djoković used the third game ball with some volley.

In 66 minutes, Djoković scored 21 final strokes with 16 unforced faults. Norrie had nine outright wins and 24 blunders. The Serb saved one break point and took five of the 10 breakthrough chances himself. He scored 21 out of 26 points on his first pass.

Norrie took part in the Tournament of Champions for the first time. He appeared in it as the fourth Briton. Before him, it was Andy Murray (2008-2012 and 2014-2016), Tim Henman (1997-1998 and 2004) and Greg Rusedski (1997-1998).

Djoković remains in the game for the sixth victory in the event (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). On Saturday, in the semi-finals, the Serb will face Alexander Zverev (start at 21:00).
