Phil Collins, last concert of his life: “I’m sick”

Saturday 26 March in London, at the 02 Arena, was the last concert by Phil Collins. The group – which includes Phil, keyboardist Tony Banks and guitarist-bassist Mike Rutherford – had announced they were reuniting for The Last Domino? tour, after a 14-year absence from live shows, but last year were forced to cancel several dates due to Covid. During the tour Collins performed while sitting, he was unable to use a cane to walk.

Phil Collins’ health problems

“I do not do anything – he explained to the Guardian -. I don’t practice singing at home, not at all. The evidence is the practice. My health changes things, doing the show seated changes things”. THE Phil Collins health issues date back at least to 2009, when the musician suffered a crushing of the vertebrae due to the position in which he played the drums: hence a first surgery, followed by another in 2015. Born on January 30, 1951, in the 1970s the artist he began his career with Genesis playing drums. He then became the lead singer of the group when Peter Gabriel left in 1975. His solo career was marked by great successes such as In the Air Tonight or Against All Odds.
