Pirates of the Caribbean, Zoe Saldana: “Jerry Bruckheimer apologized for my horrible experience on set”

Zoe Saldana’s experience on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean wasn’t among the happiest of her career, but the actress reveals that she received an apology from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

In the franchise played by star Johnny Depp, Zoe Saldana plays Anamaria, a proud pirate whose path crosses that of Captain Jack Sparrow on multiple occasions.

Zoe Saldaña is used to the franchises having starred in Avatar, Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy, but in 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean was her first experience with a blockbuster of this size.

“It was my first exposure to a big Hollywood movie, where there were so many actors, so many producers and so many crew members.” the actress explained to EW. “We were shooting in different places and the environments weren’t that nice. I was very young, and it was a little too big for me and the pace was a little too fast.”.

Zoe Saldana confesses that she has kept the memory “of a bad experience overall. I felt like I was lost in a trench, I didn’t feel in my place. So decided not to return in later chapters”.

The bad impression Zoe Saldana received reached the ears of producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who personally apologized to the actress:

“Years later, I was able to meet Jerry Bruckheimer, who apologized because he really wants everyone to have a good experience on his projects. This really moved me, he felt compelled to raise the issue and take responsibility.”
