Poland as the largest construction site in Europe. In 2022, material prices are higher than before the pandemic

“Although the construction sector in China shows signs of a deeper slowdown and it is possible that basic raw materials (e.g. aluminum or copper) will finally start to cheaper (this depends, among others, on the monetary policy of the FED and the further development of the coronavirus pandemic), the baseline scenario assumes that in 2022, material prices in Poland will remain at levels higher than before the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic due to, inter alia, continued high demand for construction services, record energy prices and rising costs of climate transformation for producers “- forecasts the Polish Association of Construction Employers (PZPB).

As a result, ever higher contracting costs, as well as rising interest rates in Poland, may force many public and private investors to revise their investment plans. However, this problem should, to a lesser extent, affect large public investments in the area of transport and energy infrastructure.
