Poland – Georgia. A sure victory for the Poles. Hurkacz’s unexpected troubles

The ATP Cup tournament is a clash between national teams. In the first match they defeated Greece 2: 1. Now the opponent of the Biało-Czerwonych led by Marcin Matkowski was the national team of Georgia. It was known from the very beginning that the Poles were the favorite of this duel.

In the first match, Kamil Majchrzak faced Aleksander Bakszi. The 972nd tennis player in the ranking replaced Nikoloz Basilashvi, who was injured. The Pole took advantage of this fact and reigned supreme on the court. After 53 minutes the game was over. The result of 6: 1, 6: 1 brought the Poles closer to victory in this match.

Unexpectedly, Hubert Hurkacz had problems in the second match. Our best racket was playing with Aleksander Metreweli. The 571st tennis player in the world ranking stood up to “Hue”, who could not break his rival. This one made it to the tie-break, which he sensationally won. However, the irritated Hurkacz returned to the right track and won the other two games 6: 3, 6: 1. Thus, he sealed the victory of our team.

In the last duel there was a doubles match. Szymon Walków and Jan Zieliński faced Aleksander Bakshi and Zura Tkemaladze. In the first set, the Georgians turned out to be better, they won 7: 6. The second game was won by the Poles, however, and a super tie-break was necessary. In it, the Biało-Czerwoni were better, they won 10-6 and set the result of the match against Georgia at 3-0.

The Polish national team has won two victories after two matches. Only the winner of the group will advance to the semi-finals, so there is still a key meeting ahead of the Polish team. Their Wednesday rival will be the national team of Argentina.
