According to the vice president of 3D Realms, Google Stadia has no great relevance at this time: “PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will be significantly better performing”.
At GDC 2019 Google has unveiled features and technical specifications of Stadia, leaving fans curious to find out how Sony and Microsoft will respond with PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
Meanwhile, Frederik Schreiber, vice president of 3D Realms, said that PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will enjoy “far superior” features to those offered by Stadia at launch. The developer also says he expects greater accessibility to new devices for the insiders, as well as a consistent improvement in performance.
“For each generation, the development environment has come closer and closer to PC standards, to the benefit of all developers,” Schreiber said in an interview with Gaming Bolt. “We expect the next generation of consoles to be easier to develop, in addition to a general increase in performance.”
“The current generation is already fast, but the GPU, memory, and CPU have come a long way since the current hardware was put on the market. This should give us many opportunities with the future generation.”
When asked about Google Stadia, Schreiber said he doesn’t consider the platform relevant at the moment, but above all that the consoles from Sony and Microsoft will be significantly better performing.
As you may recall, Sony has already unveiled the first details regarding PlayStation 5, including the AMD architecture, the implementation of an SSD and support for 8K resolution. As for Xbox, Scarlett will probably have to wait until E3 2019.
