PS4 has exceeded the fateful threshold of one hundred million units distributed in stores, with more than a billion games sold altogether.
Sony has announced that it has shipped more than 100 million PS4 in stores and that total has been sold more than a billion games for the console.
The figures refer to 30 June 2019 and were disclosed during the recent financial report of the multinational, relative to the first fiscal quarter of 2020, which runs from April to June 2019. In the period considered, 3.2 million PS4 units were distributed.
PS4 is the console that has managed to sell 100 million units faster than ever, more precisely in 5 years and 7 months. The previous record was held by PS2, which had taken 5 years and 9 months to make it.
Sony data also speak of a billion games sold for PS4. In fact, 924 million, a figure that does not take into account the fiscal years 2013 and 2014. Considering that at the end of fiscal 2014, 81.8 million games were sold for PS4, just make a simple sum to get a total of about 1.005 billion games sold.
In short, PS4 was a very successful console, which explains why Sony is in no hurry to launch PS5.
