Their account on Instagram to reach millions and millions of people all over the world and now Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga and Use have decided to use them to support the fight for equality and for say no to racism.
All three have announced a step back from their profiles, where to find space to the voices of the movement Black Lives Matter and who ask for justice and equal rights for allin the light of the protests that followed the death of George Floyd in the United States.
“I had difficulties in understanding the right thing to say about this important moment in history – wrote Selena Gomez – After you have thought about the best way to use my social, I decided that we all need to hear more voices black. In the next few days, I will put in evidence of influential leaders and I will give them the opportunity to do a takeover of my Instagram, so that they can speak directly to all of us. We have an obligation to do better, and we can start listening to open mind and heart“.
Lady Gaga posted a similar message: “I will give my Instagram account to each of the organisations to which I recently donated, in an effort to amplify their important voices. And after that I swear regularly, forever, on all my social platforms, I will post Stories, content, and other to support the voices of the countless and inspiring members and groups of the community“.
Tonight Use will instead of a livestream with Black Visions Collective, whose goal is to “dismantle the system of oppression and violence“.
“It is incredible to see how much support, how many donations and how much sensitivity are happening – said Use in the announcement of the live – We are in a time where all are starting to wake up and educate one another. How can we push this conversation to progress? I know there are a lot of organizations that do that“.
