Joe Alwyn Talks Writing Process With Taylor Swift
The actor and musician commented on how the creative process happened with the singer, whom he has been dating since 2017.
He contributed with Swift on songs for the albums folklore and evermorewhich are the most recent, released within a short time of each other.
Alwyn took co-writing credits for the songs Betty and exile (from the album Folklore) and Evermore, Champagne Problems and Coney Island (which are part of the Evermore album).
He explained that he was just ‘playing’ on the piano and singing what turned out to be the first verse of Exile, when Taylor asked him to help him finish the song’s lyrics.
“It was completely improvised, an accident. She said, ‘Can we try to make it through together?’ And so we did. It was as basic as some people making sourdough.”
“Who doesn’t walk around the house singing? I probably had a drink and stumbled through the house. We couldn’t decide on a movie to watch that night, and she said, ‘Do you want to try to finish writing that song you sang earlier?’ And then we took a guitar and did that,” she finished.
