– What’s Putin’s plan? Quite simple, we are talking about it publicly: destroy us as a state – said Oleksiy Danilov in an interview on Thursday for the information and analytical portal Ukrainian Truth. – Russia has annexed Crimea and is occupying part of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts so that we have this problem and that we do not pay attention to Crimea – said the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
– Now the time has come when they have made a decision that the Ukrainian issue has to be resolved, added Danilov.
“Winding up the situation” is in progress
In his opinion, from October 30, 2021, “the situation is being pumped up from all sides”. As the official pointed out, the number of Russian troops on the border is not “something new” for Ukraine. – It is a practical matter with which we live every day, every minute. And there aren’t any unpredictable things here, ”Danilov said.
According to him, Putin now wants to lead to internal destabilization in Ukraine, without which the authorities in the Kremlin will be “much more difficult to perform the tasks they have set before them,” he added. In a general sense, Putin plans to reconstruct the Soviet empire, which is impossible without Ukraine, assessed the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
Another direction of destabilization
Danilov believes that it is difficult for Russia to destabilize Ukraine politically with the use of pro-Russian forces due to the shutdown of related TV stations and Ukraine’s “preventive measures”. There remains another direction of destabilization, namely the energy sector, emphasized Daniłow.
The Ukrainian Pravda interlocutor informed that Ukraine has already passed “all necessary preparatory stages” for possible further aggressive steps by Russia. – As of today, the immediate preparatory process for aggressive actions that something serious will happen tomorrow, there is no – said Danilov. – If it happens tomorrow, we will of course talk about it with the public – he pointed out.
Once a week, behind closed doors
When asked if there was a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on a potential Russian invasion, the Secretary of the NSRD replied. – If there is such a need, it will take place. However, I would like to say: once a week, behind closed doors, there is a meeting where the situation is analyzed – he emphasized.
The official also said that President Volodymyr Zelensky is informed on a daily basis about what is happening near Ukrainian borders and what the emergency is.
