Jan Kawulok took part in the Olympic Games in Grenoble in 1968. In the nordic combined he took 20th place. He won the prestigious FIS competition in Austria or in Schonach, competing with the best in the world.
Jan Kawulok has died – former Olympian, Polish champion and trainer of jumpers
He was an exceptionally versatile athlete. He was the Polish champion in ski jumping twice (1969 and 1971). In 1970 he took 17th place at the world championship in classic skiing in the High Tatras. In 1972 he won the gold medal at the Polish Championship in the 4×10 km relay race. He was even no stranger to football. In the 1978/79 season, he played for the B-class Start Wis³a. After the end of his career he started training young jumpers. He was a trainer of, among others Jan Szturc, who later trained, inter alia, Adam Ma³ysz and Piotr Żyła. In 2012, a plaque dedicated to Kawulok was unveiled on the Vistula Sport Stars Alley.
Jan Kawulok’s funeral will take place on Saturday, November 27 at 11.00 in the chapel of the municipal cemetery in Wisła at 29 Ochorowicza Street.
