Forty years well worn

The Italian house Piaggio boasts a lot of icons in its truly impressive historical list: from the classic Vespa it boasts more imitations and plagiarisms than any other European motorcycle to the historic Ape that accompanied fruit sellers, farmers and workers on the roads and hairpin bends throughout Italy for decades. However, it would not be right not to mention another very famous motorcycle produced by the most famous house in the beautiful country.

If you grew up in the seventies, you may not have never seen it the Piaggio Hellolegendary scooter that even before the Liberty and the New Vespa was the means of transport cheaper and more popular of all Italians. This moped went into production in 1967 and stood out for over forty years for its mechanical simplicity: essentially it was a frame with a two-stroke engine inside.

Come back

For years, fans have been hoping for the Hello back into production but unfortunately, for the moment this remains a utopia given that the Italian house has many other plans. However, another Italian company has invented a brilliant idea to allow the owners of this moped to modernize their beloved two-wheelers. Which is not like buying a new one designed from scratch but better than nothing.

The company we are talking about is called Ambra Italy and it is a company that deals with electrical conversions, a sector that from August – the release date of an important sentence – will certainly be very fruitful. To take advantage of this product you need a Hello, no matter what year or under what conditions. With a cost of around 3,000 euros, the engineers will take care of everything for you.

You drive it however you want

The Ciao modified by the Italian house becomes a very nice E-bike. It might seem like a bad idea to convert a historic moped, but hear the benefits: no expenses at the petrol station, especially in a terrible moment like this, no wear on the internal combustion engine and above all, now you will have the possibility to drive the scooter even if your license has expired or you have never taken it!

What do you think of the idea of Ambra Italia? You like it? (Facebook)

For E-bikes according to Italian law they are not even needed license plate and insurance. In practice, the ideal way to get around the city or go to work with an overall modest expense. What will avid fans think of the model, we ask? Certainly some will regard conversion as blasphemy. But it’s a nice way to bring such a famous and historic scooter back to life.
