Twitch has banned illegal gambling on the platform –

Twitch has finally forbidden the gamble illegal on the platform, after months of controversy and after cases of scams, deceptions and obvious addictions. This is a long overdue decision, given the problems caused by this type of content and the many complaints about it.

Streamers such as xQc and Trainwreckes, just to name two really important names, have based many of their latest content on gambling, even though they know they are targeting a very young audience (some malicious people would say they did it for this very reason, but we are not malicious). A very serious case recently surfaced of a streamer scamming his community to fuel his gambling addiction.

Evidently it was the classic straw that broke the camel’s back, so much so as to lead Twitch to the complete ban on unregulated sites, after an attempt at partial moderation: “While we had banned the sharing of links or referral codes of sites that include slot machines, roulette or dice games, we have seen that some people have circumvented these rules, exposing our community to great risks.

So on October 18, we will update our policy to prohibit the streaming of gambling sites that include slot machines, roulette, or dice games that are not licensed in the US or in other jurisdictions that provide adequate consumer protection. These sites will include,,, and However we are working to identify others.

Sites dedicated to sports betting, fantasy sports and poker will continue to be permitted.
