Two new models for Kawasaki: hybrid and electric

Technology and innovation to the nth degree, in full Japanese style: Kawasaki keeps up with the times, indeed, advances with giant steps towards new types of engines, for the ecological mobility of the future. The House has in fact recently unveiled a breathtaking news: it will soon create two new creatures, a hybrid and an electric motorcycle.

That’s not all, because in reality the official communication of Kawasaki Motors speaks of the intentions of the House in the coming years: the Japanese brand known all over the world is planning the global market launch of as many as 16 new two-wheel models with internal combustion engines every year, plus another 10 electric and hybrid models by 2025. The program is certainly very ambitious, we realize it, yet Kawasaki – in its perfect style – does not hold back and at the Suzuka Eight Hours, which was held on August 6-7 (endurance motorcycle competition that takes place every year at the Suzuka circuit in Japan, where each team has three alternating riders) talked about what in mind for the future.

New from Kawasaki: zero and low emission engines

At a time when we talk about nothing but ecological transition and sustainable mobility (as well as expensive gasoline, a “hot” topic that is damaging Italian families not a little), the possibility of also having models in the future of motorcycles with zero or low emissions tempts many.

Lovers of rumble and “real” engines do not like it, but there are those who do not disdain any new hybrid and electric models at all. And, in this scenario, Kawasaki gets to be talked about. The company has in fact announced that it will soon produce its new two wheels, one 100% electric and one hybrid, and is serious: in fact, the absolutely new prototypes have already run on the Japanese trackon the occasion of the Suzuka Eight Hours.

At the moment the brand has not yet released official information on its new creatures for the future, but clearly the rumors circulating on the web are already several; enthusiasts and industry experts begin to put forward their hypotheses. As for the hybrid engine, we can define it more revolutionarygiven that the two-wheeler sector has so far made only 100% electric vehicles, without focusing on hybrid propulsion, in fact.

The new engines: the first hypotheses

The first hybrid variant Kawasaki’s bike could be fitted with a parallel twin of 650 cm³ coupled to an electric motor. No one dares, for now, to declare whether the latter will work as an alternative to the internal combustion engine or if instead it will help it in pushing the vehicle, a much more probable option, especially in particular conditions such as acceleration.

The EV prototype instead it could be equipped with a “traditional” electric motor, of the kind we are already used to seeing. There are those who imagine a Ninja-inspired naked, with different aesthetic and technical changes. However, it seems that today the company is already well ahead in the development of its new electric and hybrid motorcycles, having already shown the prototypes to the public it is very likely that they will soon go into production. Kawasaki has not yet put an emphasis on this. We’ll see if after the summer, on the occasion of the first shows, the House will let something more slip away.
