Ted Lasso near the end? Brett Goldstein’s latest statements
“We’re writing it as the final one,” Goldstein said candidly during the interview when asked if season 3 of Ted Lasso will conclude the story. “It was already planned that we would do three seasons. Spoiler: everyone dies,” joked the actor who, however, left the door open for a continuation. It is no mystery, in fact, that British TV series are launching specials for Christmas or other occasions. An eventuality that Roy Kent’s interpreter seemed favorable to. (Recall that a stop-motion animated Christmas special was already released last December).
Only a few days ago the co-creator of the series had also intervened on the subject Bill Lawrence. Host of the ATX TV Festival, the screenwriter had said he will leave any decision on the future of Ted Lasso – which is currently in production in the UK – to the protagonist Jason Sudeikis and producers.
The success of Ted Lasso and Jason Sudeikis
Ted Lasso follows Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach who finds himself coaching an English football team, hired by AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) to take revenge on her husband who betrayed her. Yet, despite not knowing anything about football, Ted shows how kindness can become a weapon to use against one’s opponents and in life. Acclaimed by critics and the public, Ted Lasso was crowned best comedy of last season, earning Sudeikis both the Emmy and the Golden Globe. Ted’s character, Goldstein noted in the interview with the Sunday Timesrepresents “the best in ourselves. One who tries to bring out the best in ourselves”.
