Eight months have passed since Daniel Dujshebaev’s last match. The Spaniard from Łomża Vive Kielce recovered after a second serious knee injury and inaugurated the 2021/22 season in a match against Zagłębie Lubin (38:24).
The trauma from the Polish Cup semi-finals introduced a lot of anxiety in Kielce. Daniel Dujshebaev, although he did not lead in the attack like his brother Alex, was a useful player in the team of Polish champions. At the age of less than 24, he injured his knee cruciate ligament for the second time and a long break was expected.
He came back – for the trauma – fairly quickly. After eight months, Dujshebaev played the first minutes in defense against Zagłębie Lubin. – I felt great on the dance floor, and it will get even better with time. I paused for eight months, only after the last talks with the doctors I heard that everything was fine, so I am not worried about my health. I start with the defense game, I know that I have a lot of work to do in training, and with time I will also join the attacking game. I can run and train normally, but the most important thing is to calmly return to the full game – commented the quarterback.
The match with the Copper players turned out to be a test for players who need to play after shorter or longer breaks. Haukur Thrastarson and Michał Olejniczak relieved the resting Igor Karacic and Alex Dujshebaev. – They played our game very nicely. They are also happy to come back, because we saw Faruk Yusuf and Daniel Dujshebaev on the pitch. Dani only played a quarter of an hour in defense, but it is very good news that from now on we can take him into account when choosing a squad – said Krzysztof Lijewski, the second coach of the Polish champions.
