Xiaomi 12T Pro Review – Andrea Galeazzi

The 200 megapixel super camera, the very fast charging at 120W and the most powerful Snapdragon currently available are a great business card for Xiaomi 12T Pro, just presented. But will they be enough to make it emerge on such a crowded market and justify its price?

Packaging and content

In packaging we find the USB-A to USB-C cable, the 120W power supply and a transparent silicone cover. Not bad in terms of equipment.

Design and touch-and-feel materials

Construction is in plastic And glass and this absence of a metal frame is perceived, unfortunately the feeling is not that of a premium phone. Despite this, however, the weight is still over 200 grams, 205 to be exact and the thickness is 8.6mm.

The AMOLED screen allows the presence ofalways-on display, which also shows notifications while concerning connectivity we find: 5G, WiFi 6, GPS, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Android Auto, Google Pay and USB-C connector without video output.

Display

The display it’s a AMOLED from 6.67 “ with pixel density of 446 PPI, refresh rate a 120Hz and peak brightness of 900 nits.It is a good panel but the maximum brightness, while not creating visibility problems, is not very high and from a phone with its price, which wants to position itself in the top range, one would expect something more.

Processor and memory

The processor it is Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with GPU Adreno 730, 8-12GB from RAM And 128-256GB from internal memory not expandable.

Battery

There battery it’s a 5,000 mAh, 25Wh, with fast charging a 120W and this means from 0 to 50% in about 5 minutes and from 0 to 100 in about 20. No wireless charging.
Autonomy is Great, it heats little, is optimized well and manages to get to the end of my stressful day with still the 25/30%.

Software and ecosystem

Android 12 updated to patches of July on board but this Xiaomi comes out today, so let’s give it some time to update. Anyway, the promise is to 4 years of patch security e 3 major releases. The software is complete and runs well but I would have preferred a refresh in the design, which seems to me not too nice.

Telephone department

No problem of reception or audio, indeed, the speakerphone it is particularly powerful and also on the other side they hear us well. The dialer is that Google stock with also the option of to record the calls and for all those who have always had problems with the proximity sensor virtual Xiaomi here a physical one has been mounted and it will certainly be more reliable.

Photo and video

The room compartment consists of:

  • 200MP main camera with f / 1.7 aperture and optical stabilization,
  • 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f / 2.2 aperture and 120 ° FOV angle,
  • 2MP camera for macros,
  • 20MP internal camera with f / 2.2 aperture.

The shots they are good mid-range, not bad but they do not scream a miracle, they lack a telephoto lens maybe 3X. The software zoom given the 200MP of the main one is not bad but it is not the same thing as an optical zoom. THE video they are excellent if shot from the main but definitely less from the wide angle.

Audio

L’audio it’s stereo and it’s really good, among the best for both volume and bass.

Apps and gaming

How does it turn? As a top of the range and with this processor it could not be otherwise. Always smooth and fast, with even a good feedback of the vibration, not very powerful but dry and precise.

Final judgement

THE prices from list from 849 euros for the 8 / 256GB and 899 euros for the 12 / 256GB they are really too high but the 12/256 to 749 euros at launch or at 900 together with the Redmi Pad it already becomes more interesting. However, he runs well and I have not found any particular bugs but despite this he did not impress me, perhaps, at 150 euros less, it makes more sense 12T, who still takes comparable photos and runs very well with his MediaTek Dimensity 8100. Below the offers from launch complete:
